Al Sadd coach Felix Sanchez spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 22 match against Al Ahli.
“We will play our last match of the league against Al Ahli. In the first leg, we drew with difficulty and it is clear that Al Ahli have had a distinguished season. They have an organized team and a strong attack, and they have players capable of making a difference. The team as a whole is of high quality.
“This match is like a final for us. The situation is still in our hands and that is positive, but we are fully aware that the match will be difficult.
“Al Ahli are a team striving to finish the season well, occupying one of the top four positions and are potential contenders in the Qatar Cup, so it is only natural that they will play at their best. But the most important thing for us is to focus on ourselves and I hope the players will rise to the occasion.
“Ultimately, winning the league title is very important, as it comes after 22 rounds of competition. The championship always goes to the team with the most consistency throughout the season, and that is what we are striving for,” said Sanchez.
Al Sadd player Paulo Otavio said, “It will be a very difficult match, the last one in the tournament. Everyone is looking forward to it and working towards it. We have put in a lot of effort this season. We have experienced ups and downs, but we have been focused from the start to reach this stage. We knew from the first round that the season would not be easy and we did what we had to do.”
