Al Wakrah and Al Gharafa played out a 1-1 draw at Stadium 974 in Week 21 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League on Friday.

Farid Boulaya scored for The Blue Wave in the 23rd minute, taking their points tally to 25 points, before Al Gharafa got their equalizer through Yacine Brahimi in the 29th minute to further move them to 41 points in the standings.

The highly-entertaining match was evenly balanced for the better part of the early minutes of first half, with chances few and far between on both sides.

Abdalla Yousif had the opportunity to put Al Gharafa ahead in the 18th minute, but his header, following a Brahimi cross from a corner, missed narrowly to the top right corner.

Five minutes later, Al Wakrah got the opener through Boulaya, who took advantage of a poor clearance by goalkeeper Khalifa Ndiaye to hammer home a right-footed shot from outside the box.

The two sides continued to size each other up, but with no changes in the scoreline until the 29th minute, when Al Gharafa got their equalizer through Brahimi, who found himself in an unmarked position as he rifled home an exquisite right-footed shot from the left side of the box from an assist by Ferjani Sassi to ensure a 1-1 draw at half-time.

Ahmed Al Janahi missed the opportunity of taking the lead for Al Gharafa almost on resumption of the second half, as his right-footed shot from the right side of the six-yard box was just a bit off target.

Despite several attempts on both sides, none of them were able to add to the goal tally as the match ended with the spoils evenly shared.
