Al Wakrah coach Poya Asbaghi spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 12 match against Al Ahli.

“Our preparations for the Al Ahli match went off well and we made remarkable progress during the last training sessions, and I am happy with the players’ response to the instructions.

“We need to achieve victory in this match and we are aware of the strength of the competitor and the good levels they offer in addition to the good players they have, such as Draxler, Sekou and Driss Fettouhi.

“My team also has distinguished players in all departments and they have the ability to make a difference and help Al Wakrah overcome this obstacle,” said Asbaghi.

Al Wakrah player Jassim Al Zaraa said, “Our match against Al Ahli will be difficult and strong, especially since the competitor appeared strongly in the first leg and we did not provide the required levels mostly so far. We promise everyone that we will provide the required levels and results and we will storm the second leg in a completely different way starting from the Al Ahli match, for which our team prepared well with the new coach and we tried to adapt to the coach’s thinking.

“We also played a strong friendly match against Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia and worked after that to correct the mistakes we made during that match.”
