Two stoppage-time goals saw Al Shahania beat Qatar SC 3-1 in Week 10 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium of Qatar SC on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Pelle van Amersfoort (23rd minute and 90+3 minute) and Lotfi Majder (90+10 minute) scored for the winners, while Qatar SC’s only goal came from Sebastian Soria in the 70th minute.

The result saw Al Shahania leapfrog to seventh spot in the rankings with 11 points, ahead of Umm Salal on goal difference. Qatar SC slid a rung to 11th place with 10 points to their credit.

Both teams played a fast and attacking game throughout. While Al Shahania made good of the chances, Qatar SC were off target on crucial occasions. Early in the ninth minute, Qatar SC were also unlucky when an Ahmed Mohammed Radwan attempt hit the right post.

In the 20th minute, Al Shahania’s Van Amersfoort made the ball go through the goalkeeper’s legs, but it missed the right post. Two minutes later, the Dutch player made amends as he latched on to teammate Alhassan Koroma’s drive inside the box to score from the right and provide Al Shahania the lead.

Qatar SC pushed hard to find the equalizer, but were met with resistance. In the 42nd minute, a Carlinhos free-kick dipped in threateningly, but it was kept away by a leaping Al Shahania goalkeeper Shehab Ellethy.

In the second session too, Qatar SC aimed at equalizing, but kept firing away or over the target. In the 68th minute, Radwan sized up a good shot, but fired over.

Two minutes later, Qatar SC succeeded, with Soria making a fine low diving header with a cross from substitute Ilyes Brimil (1-1).

Qatar SC now looked for more and in the 85th minute they made a double header off a corner kick, but the ball went out.

With both teams frantically looking to score in the 10 added minutes of stoppage time, Al Shahania struck through a goalmouth melee following a corner kick which was first saved, but Al Shahania attacked again and despite a Qatar SC defender keeping the ball out, Van Amersfoort was at hand to head it back in (2-1).

Qatar SC tried to hit back in the little remaining time, but on a counter Al Shahania’s Majder ran down with the ball to beat the rival goalkeeper and make it 3-1, much to his own and the team’s fans’ delight.
