Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 9 match against Umm Salal.

“We underwent the last training sessions with clearer focus and greater determination to overcome the obstacle of negative results and I hope that success will be on our side in the match against Umm Salal.

“I do not deny that the team was affected morally after the last two losses, but we will not panic and surrender to the negative results. We will make every possible effort to quickly return to the series of positive results, especially since we have a new challenge and a strong match against a strong competitor, which is Umm Salal. They are a developed team and despite my belief that the match will be difficult, my confidence is greater in my team players.

“Al Wakrah’s level is average so far in the league championship and therefore I am not satisfied with the performance we are providing in general because there are some matches in which we did not appear as required, but there are other matches in which we presented well and I think that our ambition should be much greater than that. In general, we encountered many adverse circumstances that negatively affected the team’s results,” said Al Marri.

Al Wakrah player Omar Salah said, “Umm Salal are not an easy competitor because they have distinguished players in all departments, but we are focused on victory and collecting the three points no matter how difficult the match is.

“We have a great desire to return to the path of victories, especially since we are approaching a break in the league championship and we hope that this break will be comfortable away from the pressures of loss. Al Wakrah are a champion team and have players who have the ability to appear well in difficult times.

“Sometimes I feel some satisfaction and other times I am not satisfied, but the biggest percentage is dissatisfaction with the level I am presenting because I am well aware that I have the capabilities that qualify me to help my team more than that and I confirm that I am doing my best to achieve this goal.”
