Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 9 match against Al Ahli.

“We will face one of the best teams with distinguished players, and we realize that the match will be difficult. We have enough ability to deal with this game. We are coming from a victory and we must have a winning mentality. We realize that Al Ahli occupy third place in the standings, but I have complete confidence in the team and we will play to win the three points.

“The team is improving from one match to another and this is a result of the great work that the team as a whole is doing, whether in training or matches.

“We have confidence in our capabilities and we are building on the performance we presented in the previous match against Al Shamal. We must maintain focus throughout the match in addition to maintaining the winning mentality, which is very important to provide a distinguished performance.

“Work is being done continuously to raise the level of performance and the team has some mistakes and we are always working to correct them,” said Mejia.

Al Shahania player Ali Al Amri said, “We are coming from a valuable victory over Al Shamal and the morale is very high. We have been working for a week on the Al Ahli match, which has players at the highest level. We are learning from our previous mistakes, especially after the Al Duhail match, which we won and then the loss to Al Sadd. We will work to achieve victory with the three points.

“The atmosphere within the team is very wonderful and everyone is united in order to score victories and give their best in every match.”
