Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 8 match against Al Shamal.
“The team must focus greatly and maintain the strength that it showed in previous matches, and seek to score goals to gain the points that the team is looking for.
“We focus on our team more than the opponents and we always seek to achieve victory. We had some injured players who returned and we hope they recover for this match and be able to play.
“Weak starts were not in all matches, and there is a kind of improvement in the first quarter of an hour, and our start has become better than the first matches in the league. We are trying to correct mistakes from one match to another, and we need more focus in the matches, and I trust all the players,” said Mehia.
Al Shahania goalkeeper Shehab Ellethi said, “We prepared well for the match against Al Shamal and we worked during this week on some important points, as we know the difficulty of the opponent who succeeded in defeating Al Arabi 5-2. We will work to implement the coach’s plans in the match and we will enter to achieve the three points.
“The team’s morale is high, especially in the dressing room. We know that the match will not be easy and it requires great effort and focus from beginning to end. We have a goal, which is to achieve victory, and we have another goal, which is not just to stay in the league, but to achieve an advanced position in the standings.”
