Al Khor and Al Rayyan will meet in the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 7 opener at the Al Khor Stadium on Friday, October 18, 2024. The kick-off is at 5.30pm.

The contest between these two sides, as usual, is expected to be strong. Both teams go into the match with a fierce desire to overcome their shortcomings, to clinch a win and improve their position in the standings.

Al Khor are currently bottom-placed with three points from three draws and as many losses, being the only team in the league which has not won a game so far.

Comparatively, Al Rayyan are ninth in the rankings with six points – gained from two wins. They have also suffered four losses.

Both Al Khor and Al Rayyan are also coming from a reversal in the sixth week. Al Khor had lost 1-3 to Al Wakrah, while Al Rayyan went down 1-2 to Al Arabi.

Al Khor’s journey in the competition so far has been a difficult one. After they suffered three setbacks and tied three matches, the club announced the dismissal of coach Abdullah Mubarak.

Given the scenario, Al Khor will be looking to achieve their maiden win of the league championship against Al Rayyan by relying on their standout players, most notably Adil Rhaili, Sofiane Hanni, Yohan Boli and Jasser Yahya. It is also expected that Aymen Hussein will be back after his absence in the previous games due to injury.

Al Rayyan, under coach Younes Ali, who also guided The Lions against his former team Al Arabi, would aim for the team to regain their winning touch and make a strong comeback.

Younes will try to correct his team’s situation after they lost to Al Arabi in the last round. He would work towards restoring the form with Al Rayyan also preparing for their upcoming match against Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia in the third round of 2024-2025 AFC Champions League Elite at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium of Al Rayyan club on October 21.

Al Rayyan rely on a number of distinguished players, most notably Roger Guedes, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Abdulaziz Hatem and Achraf Bencharki.
