Al Arabi scored a comfortable 2-0 win over Al Shahania in the opening match of Round 3 (Group A) of the 2024-2025 season QSL Cup at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium of Al Gharafa club on Friday.

Wessam Kedari (13th minute) and Alaaeldin Hassan (22nd minute) scored the goals for The Dream Team, with the victory fetching them the valuable three points.

Al Arabi’s points tally moved to a total of six with two wins and a loss, while Al Shahania remained in fifth place with one point gained from a solitary draw and two losses.

Al Rayyan, Al Duhail, Qatar SC and Al Ahli are the other teams in the group.

The opening goal for Al Arabi was realized after a fine move by Rodriguez Sanchez who went past defenders from the right to slide the ball in which was safely let go by Hassan for Keddari to score from in front of the goal.

Al Arabi soon dealt a double blow to Al Shahahia, this time attacking from the right and winning a free-kick. Sanchez took the kick which sailed perfectly for a waiting Hassan to head the ball in.

In the 35th minute, Al Arabi had another good chance, but Helal Mohammed’s strike went just off the left post following a fine passing move.

Al Shahania found it tough to break the shackles, with Al Arabi defence foiling their attacks.

In the 87th minute, however, substitute Pelle van Amersfoort made a telling strike but much to his team’s dismay the ball went just over the crossbar.

In stoppage time, Al Shahania appealed for a hand ball inside the danger area after Al Arabi’s Yousef Muftah blocked a swivel kick, but the challenge was overruled.

Al Arabi will next play Al Duhail in the fourth round, while Al Shahania will take on Al Ahli.
