Al Shahania coach Alvaro Mejia spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 3 match against Al Wakrah.

“The two points the team got in the first two matches of the Ooredoo Stars League, against Al Arabi and Al Khor, are very important. Any point the team gets at the present time is important in Al Shahania’s journey and represents a positive factor and an incentive for the players in the upcoming match.

“The Al Wakrah match is difficult and they are a very good team and they have distinguished players, so we have to be ready in the best condition for this difficult match.

“We have one injury, for Abdullah Khaled, and the rest of the players are ready, and we are always working to prepare the players in the best way.

“I tell the players that we are progressing step by step and the league needs a very long break. We have to focus on ourselves and the strengths that we have in order to achieve the goals of the team and the management, and I ask the players to be very calm and focused. We know all the teams and we do not fear any team. We are still at the beginning and we must double our efforts to get the results we need,” said Alvaro Mejia.

Al Shahania player Ali Mohammed said, “The Al Wakrah match will be a starting point for the team in the Ooredoo Stars League as we seek to get the three points after keeping a clean sheet in the first two matches and managed to get two points.

“The Al Wakrah match will be difficult, we are well prepared to win the three points,. Al Wakrah are a team that is developing significantly and is different from Al Arabi and Al Khor, but we are focusing on our team and preparing in the best way. We are one family and the management is doing everything in its capacity to support the team.

“I hope that we would continue our journey with the same strength with which we started the league in order to stay in the next season, as the team presented great levels against two strong teams in the first two matches.”
