Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 11 match against Al Ahli.

“We strive to keep Al Wakrah in the top places in the rankings and we realize that we have the capabilities that will help us achieve this goal.

“We face a strong team regardless of their position in the rankings table but we will aim for a win. The strength of the matches in the league does not recognize the teams in the lead and the others in the late positions, given that the levels are very close.

“To a large extent, I feel satisfied with the level of Al Wakrah team in the recent period but at the same time I wonder about the reasons for the decline in the team’s general level in the second half of the league especially during the last two matches despite brilliance in the first halves,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Jacinto Dala said, “Although I am confident that the match will be very difficult, I also have confidence in the capabilities of my team, and we must be at our highest levels of concentration so that we can achieve victory.

“My performance has not declined and I always do my best. All teams watch their competitors and prepare for the matches. Being one of the top scorers for the team, it is natural for more attention to be paid to my performances and to the goals I score and to make efforts. The most important thing for me is to work according to the team’s needs.
