Al Ahli coach Pedro Miguel spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 9 match against Al Markhiya.

“We are looking forward to continuing the distinguished performance we had shown recently especially in the Ooredoo Cup, where we scored two important victories.

“I realize the importance of achieving victories in the league and advancing in the standings, but before that I know fully well that this will only come by improving performance and level, which is what we worked during the break.

“The break was an appropriate opportunity to prepare the injured players and raise the capabilities of a large number of players who had not previously played. We had prepared the team well to be better in terms of performance in the coming period especially since a group of players were not with the team at the beginning of the season due to injuries. They have returned to training and are in playable condition.

“We do not view only Al Markhiya match as important. All games are important and achieving victory is the club’s motto in the coming period. Therefore, we worked with the supporting staff to prepare the players for a distinguished performance against Al Markhiya, who are considered as a strong team,” said Miguel.

Al Ahli player Abdulrasheed Ibrahim said, “We will make every effort to provide a good performance that will bring us three points in the Al Markhiya match.

“The Al Markhiya match will not be easy and they must be fully physically and technically ready to win, especially since we did not deserve to lose in the last round against Al Shamal. But we must always learn from mistakes and present a technical level befitting the team.”
