Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 5 match against Al Rayyan.

“The team prepared well for the game against Al Rayyan in the fifth round of Expo Stars League. Everyone made utmost efforts possible during the short period of preparations in order to provide the best levels.

“Al Rayyan are one of the very good teams in the league championship and have distinguished players in all departments besides having a competent coach, so overcoming this obstacle requires the highest levels of focus and exerting utmost efforts possible.

“Although I have only watched Al Rayyan in four matches so far in the league, I believe that this team is capable of competing for the league title strongly this season.

“We are all fully prepared to take on this challenge and we do not suffer from any absences, which raises confidence levels in the possibility of obtaining all points,” said Marquez.

Al Wakrah player Ayoub Assal said, “I still have a lot to offer to the team. I am doing my best to provide the required addition and implement all the instructions of the technical staff, whether in training or in matches.

“We have no choice but to search for the three points against Al Rayyan. We kept this goal in mind during the training sessions and I believe we have the ability to achieve this goal and make our fans happy.

“This match will not be easy at all and you need to focus on all the details, no matter how small. I personally trust that no one will spare any effort to achieve victory and all I hope is that success will be with us.”
