Qatar SC defeated Al Khor 2-1 in Round 1 (Group B) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Sunday.

Salmin Al Rumaihi (16th minute) and Sebastian Soria (58th minute) scored the goals for Qatar SC.

Al Khor managed to pull one back through Syed Brahimi in the 88th minute.

Qatar SC thus started their campaign in the new season on a strong note under new Brazilian coach Ze Ricardo whom they roped in recently for two seasons.

Al Khor had retained the services of German Winfried Schafer in the new season.

Al Khor had to be at the receiving end despite having more ball possession in either session.

However, Qatar SC started strongly and took the lead as Salmin unleashed a long-range volley into the Al Khor net after trapping a cross from the left.

Al Khor tried hard to draw level, but Qatar SC held fort in the remaining time of first half.

Qatar SC doubled their lead around the hour mark when striker Soria, who is back at The Kings after a long time, slammed the ball home from close range following an assist by Ahmed Al Khuwalid.

Al Khor continued to do their best, but the maximum they could do was score a goal towards the end. Brahimi was on hand to convert a Rafael Vaz cross from the left.

Al Gharafa, Al Arabi and Al Sailiya are the other teams in Group B of the tournament.
