Al Gharafa coach Andrea Stramaccioni spoke to the media ahead of their 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League Week 6 match against Al Sadd.

“Our team will try to give off its best to get a positive result despite the strength of defending champions Al Sadd.

“Our Omani professional Mohammed Al Muslimi was injured while doing duty for his country’s national team and some other players may also be absent against Al Sadd.

“I am not afraid of absences, as I have always had great confidence in all players. I demonstrated this confidence by giving opportunity to a large number of young players in the Ooredoo Cup. I was very happy with the good form presented by the team and the results achieved despite the draw in the two matches, where the level was good.

“The loss to Qatar SC in the league was a great disappointment, especially since we were the best in the second half, during which we lost the match, but this is what happens in football.

“Al Sadd are currently the best team in Qatar, but the Al Gharafa project is not limited to one match. Rather, it focuses on the future, so the team must play in its usual style without any fear.

“The team continues to develop game after game, and after the Al Sadd match, it will be a good opportunity to see the team’s development and level in the last stage,” said Stramaccioni.

Al Gharafa player Moyad Hassan said, “The Al Sadd match is important for the team in its bid to reach good positions in the standings this season.

“We are looking forward to winning and collecting the three points, despite the injuries and absences the team is suffering from. But all players are at the top of readiness to play this strong match.

“The team played two matches in the cup and it was a good opportunity to prepare for the match against Al Sadd.

“Playing in such strong matches serves as an incentive for all players to give off their best and score goals against the backdrop of their high-profile status.”
