Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 7 match against Al Sadd.
“The mentality within the team is good, the training had all seriousness and the work is very good. We all know that Al Sadd are a very good team, but of course they lost some key players, they have five professionals and they missed very important Qatari players. I know that it is difficult for the coach and the club to win. Despite these absences, Al Sadd remain as one of the big clubs with young and experienced professional players, good technical and administrative staff, and are looking to win all matches.
“All matches are difficult and there is only one match left before the league takes a break, and I hope to win. But of course this matter will not be easy.
“I am very happy with our players’ performance in all matches and it is not easy for them to always outperform their opponents. But they do so, evidence being the 32 chances to score in two matches,” said Marquez.
Al Wakrah player Mohamed Benyettou said, “We will go into the game against Al Sadd with a winning mentality and everyone in the team has prepared well for this match, hoping to achieve victory and thus be back on the winning path.
“We are aware of Al Sadd’s strengths and desire to win, but we focus on ourselves and look to win all matches, regardless of the strengths of opponents. Our team has prepared well for this match over the course of a whole week.
“I think if we see the chances we create and how we reach the goal, this is a very positive thing. I think we have one of the best offensive lines in the league, but we did not succeed in the last two games, and the positive thing here is that we create opportunities. Goals will come.”
