Al Wakrah coach Luis Sierra spoke to the media ahead of their 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League Week 3 match against Lusail.

“Regardless of the opponent, I believe my team is in good form. I think we played well in our last match against Al Rayyan and while I acknowledge there are some areas that need improvement, overall I think we played well.

“If we maintain this level and play with the same performance, I believe we have a real chance of defeating Lusail and securing the three points.

“We must focus on what lies ahead. The most important thing for us is to win against Lusail in the third round so that we enter the first league break with a comfortable and high morale period, which will help us prepare well for the league’s resumption,” said Luis Sierra.

Al Wakrah player Lucas Mendes said, “We expect a tough match against Lusail, but we need to win and that is our primary focus.

“The Al Wakrah team prepared well throughout the week in order to enter the match in the required manner and fight for the three points.”
