Al Ahli beat Al Arabi 3-2 in Week 18 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Al Ahli Stadium on Thursday.

After being down by two goals through Al Arabi’s Yousef Msakni (fourth minute) and Aaron Boupendza (15th-minute penalty), Al Ahli staged a brilliant fightback to script a crucial victory.

Yazan Al Naimat (24th minute), Soufiane Bouftini (33rd minute) and Jose Pozo (79th minute) scored the goals for Al Ahli, who moved on to 23 points from 18 matches.

Al Arabi remained on 26 points following their eighth defeat from 18 games.

Al Arabi and Al Ahli had played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League.

Face-off between Al Ahli and Al Arabi, the two neighbouring clubs, always draw keen interest on and off the pitch, mainly because of their rich tradition and history as well as passionate fans. And the match lived up to its top billing.

Al Arabi seized an early advantage through Msakni’s goal.

The Dream Team built on it to score their second goal through Boupendza, who converted a penalty kick.

Al Ahli were not to be disheartened and struck back through Yazan.

That was followed by Bouftini’s goal and the teams were on level par.

The second half saw dramatic moments and both sides had good chances.

Yazan for Al Ahli in the 50th minute and Farshid Ismaili for Al Arabi in the 70th minute came closest to scoring.

Pozo finally sealed the issue in The Brigadiers’ favour with a powerful shot.
