Al Duhail beat Al Rayyan 4-0 in Week 17 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League at the Al Sadd Stadium on Saturday.

Nam Tae-Hee (21st minute), Michael Olunga (41st and 52nd minutes) and Mohammed Moosa (78th minute) scored the goals, as Al Duhail are now on 36 points from 17 matches.

Al Duhail moved on to 36 points with their 11th victory from 17 games.

Al Rayyan stood on 17 points with their seventh loss from 16 matches.

The Lions’ Week 14 match (Qatar Clasico) against reigning champions Al Sadd was postponed.

Al Duhail had beaten Al Rayyan 3-0 in the first leg.

Al Duhail suffered a setback in their title hopes when they were beaten 4-0 by Al Wakrah in Week 16.

However, this time against Al Rayyan, The Red Knights had it rather easy even though Luis Castro’s wards are trailing in terms of points vis a vis holders Al Sadd, who beat Al Gharafa by a 5-1 margin in the day’s early kick-off.

On to the action, the match witnessed a clear superiority for Al Duhail from start till end, while Al Rayyan played second fiddle to their opponents.

Al Duhail could have gone ahead in the seventh minute had it not been for the alertness of Al Rayyan goalkeeper Fahad Younes, who thwarted tournament top scorer Olunga.

After Al Duhail went into the half-time break with a two-goal lead through goals from Nam and Olunga, the situation did not change in the second half as they remained superior, the most offensive and were closer to the goal.

Al Duhail built on their advantage and struck twice more through Olunga and Moosa to underline their supremacy and run away with a comfortable victory.
