The thrill and competition persisted in the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League as the matches of Week 21 showcased intense excitement and fierce rivalry among all teams.
Al Sadd upheld their top position by overcoming Al Khor, while Al Duhail kept their chase alive with a victory over Al Arabi.
Al Khor have been officially relegated to the Second Division, whereas Umm Salal clinched the 11th spot and will compete against the runners-up of Second Division in Play-Off match.
RESULTS
In the six matches played, a total of 17 goals were scored, resulting in an average of 2.8 goals per match. The week featured four victories and two draws, with the most notable match being a high-scoring 5-3 encounter between Al Shamal and Al Rayyan. Additionally, Al Sadd, Al Duhail and Umm Salal all achieved clean sheets.
The race for the top position remains intense, with the announcement of the league champions deferred until the final round. There is only a two-point gap between the leading and second-placed teams prior to the final round, which will ultimately determine the champions of Ooredoo Stars League.
Al Sadd continued to hold the top position with 49 points, leading second-placed Al Duhail by two points.
Al Gharafa and Al Ahli have secured third and fourth place respectively.
Al Rayyan have ascended from sixth to fifth place, now one point ahead of Al Shamal, who have moved up to sixth as the decisive final week approaches.
STANDINGS
In terms of individual scoring, Al Rayyan’s Brazilian forward Roger Guedes leads the scoring chart with 19 goals, having netted a hat-trick against Al Shamal. Baghdad Bounedjah of Al Shamal follows closely with 18 goals, while Al Sadd’s Rafa Mujica and Akram Afif both have 17 goals each.
