Al Rayyan beat Umm Salal 2-1 in Round 9 (Group A) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Thursday.

Franck Kom (62nd minute) and Yohan Boli (65th minute) scored for Al Rayyan, after Ilyas Brimil had put Umm Salal ahead in the 13th minute.

Al Rayyan now have 12 points (four victories and three defeats) with one round of action remaining for them, while Umm Salal stood on seven points (two wins, one draw and four defeats).

It may be recalled that, in Round 8, Al Rayyan had beaten Al Wakrah 2-1, whereas Umm Salal lost 2-3 to Al Shamal.

Al Rayyan missed a penalty kick in the 53rd minute when Umm Salal goalkeeper Samy Beldi saved Boli’s shot.

Umm Salal’s Abdulrahman Fayez received his marching orders in the 85th minute.
