Al Markhiya defeated Al Khor 3-0 in the opening match of 2026-2027 season Jetour League at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams entered the match aiming for a positive outcome following strong pre-season campaigns that featured overseas training camps in Turkey and several friendly fixtures.

Although Al Khor dominated possession with 54 per cent compared to Al Markhiya’s 46 per cent, the visitors proved far more clinical in front of goal.

Ahmed Aboutrika opened the scoring in the 30th minute, lofting a precise left-footed effort over an advancing goalkeeper Gustavo Ferreira. Five minutes later, Yusupha Njie doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

Talal Muneer then capitalised on a defensive error in the 53rd minute to complete an emphatic 3-0 victory for Al Markhiya, underlining their efficiency and clinical finishing throughout the contest.
