Al Wakrah face Qatar SC in Round 1, Group A of 2022-2023 season Ooredoo Cup on Monday, 19th September. The kick-off is at 20:05 at the Al Ahli Stadium.

Umm Salal, Al Ahli, Al Sadd and Al Sailiya are the other teams in Group A.

Group B consists of Al Duhail, Al Markhiya, Al Arabi, Al Shamal, Al Gharafa and Al Rayyan.

Both Al Wakrah and Qatar SC go into the match with the aim of collecting full points and also preparing their players in a better way as the tournament offers youngsters and reserve players chance to display their skills and talents.

Al Wakrah, coached by Spaniard Marquez Lopez, have presented strong levels this season. They are now occupying second place with 15 points in the 2022-2023 QNB Stars League, which has taken a break. The Blue Wave will be keen to continue their good run the Ooredoo Cup as well.

Marquez’s Qatar SC counterpart Youssef Safri will also be keen that his wards sustain the momentum from the QNB Stars League, where they beat Al Rayyan by a 1-0 margin last week to register their third victory. The Kings are now placed seventh with 10 points.
