A number of Al Sadd players and coach Wesam Rizik spoke after their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League triumph following The Wolves’ 4-0 win over Al Shamal in Week 21 at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Everyone expressed their happiness over winning the championship after great efforts throughout, and expressed thanks and appreciation to the club management, technical as well as administrative staff and fans.

Wesam: We’re happy with coronation, I thank the players and everyone for this achievement

“I thank the players for the efforts they made throughout the season, and the technical, administrative and medical staff. Now is a very wonderful moment for the fans to share the joy of winning the league title.

“My first title as coach of Al Sadd is a feeling that is incomparable because it is Expo Stars League. It is a special moment for me to be crowned with my team with the well-deserved league shield.”

Baghdad Bounedjah: I congratulate players, technical and administrative staff

“Winning the league title is one of the most beautiful moments. I congratulate my team-mates, technical staff and the club management on this achievement, yet another feather on Al Sadd’s cap.

“Thank God for the victory. We were aspiring to win the title and Al Sadd deserved to win the shield this season and for the 17th time in the club’s history. It was a difficult season that we faced, but we were able to win the title and regain the shield again.

“Everyone contributed to this achievement, from the administrative staff, the technical staff, the medical staff, the players, and the fans who stood by the team. In fact, winning the league has a different taste and for anyone who makes a great effort to achieve it, it is natural for him to feel great happiness when he sees the result of his work and effort while he is in first place.

Hassan Al Haydous: Winning the shield was not easy

“We’re very happy to have achieved this and every fan today is happy after winning the well-deserved title.

“Winning the league this season was a challenge for us and we, as players, were so keen from the beginning of the season to regain the league shield. Winning the shield was not an easy matter, but we went into every match wanting to win it.

Akram Afif: Winning the league is result of an entire season’s efforts

“Winning the league was the result of the efforts of an entire season, where the team performed at a high level.

“Thank God for the victory, the coronation and obtaining the 17th shield in the history of Al Sadd club. There’s no doubt that it’s an exceptional and special day in Al Sadd’s journey during the current season, in which there were determination and desire to achieve the title.

“We found competition from the rest of the teams, but Al Sadd always proved their ability in all matches. It’s a different season and has a special taste. When you win the league, you feel that you’ve made a great achievement, because this coronation is the reward of an entire season.

“All thanks to my team-mates for their great effort. Everyone worked hard and in the end everyone’s efforts were capped off with the crowning. We also thank coach Wesam and his assistants and administrative staff. It’s an integrated system that worked to claim the title in the end.”

Paolo Otavio: We’re proud of what has been achieved, look forward to more

“We’re happy to be crowned with the well-deserved shield and we look forward to more. Al Sadd were able to achieve the goal of lifting the league shield and the players showed a fighting spirit in all matches. There was a great desire from everyone to win the title.

“Without desire and fighting spirit, the team couldn’t have done this.

“We thank our fans for their presence and support for the team. We’re happy that we were able to make our fans happy and we’re motivated to provide the best in the remaining tournaments during the season.”

Boualem Khoukhi: Winning the title was difficult

“The players played great and strong matches until the Al Shamal match decided the title in Week 21, and the fans played a major role in supporting the team.

“Since the beginning of the season, we’ve been thinking about winning the title. We’ve known how to play in all matches, achieve what’s required and win the shield, which’ll be an additional motivation for us in future.”

“I  congratulate the Al Sadd management and all fans on the achievement of winning the league championship and I thank the fans who came to the stadium and supported the team.

“Our focus from the beginning was to win the shield and the team played in a high, collective spirit. We also have important upcoming obligations and players did not fall short during the season. The team played collectively and this is what helped us make it big.”
