18:15 kick-off at Al Sadd Stadium
Al Sadd face Al Rayyan in the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League’s rescheduled match (Qatar Clasico) from Week 14. The kick-off is at 18:15 at the Al Sadd Stadium on Tuesday, 8th March, 2022.
The match was postponed at the request of Al Sadd after a number of their players were infected with the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The match is of great importance to both teams.
Newly-crowned QNB Stars League champions Al Sadd would be keen to finish off the tournament unbeaten, while Al Rayyan would be eager to get a positive result amid their dismal run this season and in order to improve their position in the standings, with one round of action remaining.
Al Sadd are topping the table with 56 points (18 victories and two draws). The Wolves, coached by Spaniard Javi Gracia, have a goal difference of +54 (77 goals for and 23 against).
On the other hand, Al Rayyan are placed 10th with 21 points (five victories, six draws and nine defeats). The Lions, under the tutelage of Chilean Nicolas Cordova, have a goal difference of -9 (28 goals for and 37 against).
Al Sadd beat Al Khor 4-2 and Al Rayyan defeated Qatar SC 2-1 in Week 21.
It may be recalled that Al Sadd had beaten Al Rayyan by a 4-2 margin in the first leg of 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League.
Al Sadd will miss defender Pedro Miguel, who was sent off in their Week 21 match against Al Khor, and captain Hassan Al Haydous due to injury. But they have many players who can make a difference.
Al Rayyan rely heavily on Yohan Boli, Yacine Brahimi, Colombian star James Rodriguez and Abdulaziz Hatem.
Meanwhile, Al Sadd reached the semifinals of Amir Cup by defeating Al Ahli 4-0, while Al Rayyan bowed out in the quarterfinals losing 4-5 (3-3 after regular time) on penalties to Al Wakrah. Both matches were played on Saturday, 5th March, 2022.
The 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League’s Week 22 (final round) matches have been scheduled for 10th and 11th March.
