Al Rayyan beat a 10-man Al Wakrah 4-0 in Week 16 of the 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League played at the Stadium 974 on Sunday.

Al Wakrah suffered a big setback in the very first minute of play when Suhaib Gannan was sent off for a foul.

Down to 10 men, Al Wakrah were left to battling an attacking Al Rayyan and could never recover.

Al Rayyan soon reaped the rewards with their goals coming from Roger Guedes (29th and 81st minutes), Tamim Mansour (51st minute), and Alexander Scholz (67th minute own goal).

The win fetched Al Rayyan the three valuable points and took their tally to 21 points, while Al Wakrah stayed on 17 points.

Guedes opened the scoring for Al Rayyan bursting into the danger zone and his strike was well stopped by hard working goalkeeper of Al Wakrah Saoud Mubarak Al Khater. But Guedes found the ball again on the rebound and slotted it into the net.

The Lions roared more in the second session as Al Wakrah struggled to offer resistance.

An Al Rayyan charge from the left saw Guedes provide the ball for Al Abdullah to dash in and flick it over an advancing goalkeeper to make it 2-0 in his team’s favour.

In the 64th minute, Al Rayyan’s Mahmoud Ahmed Hassan found the target, but he was found offside.

Minute later, Guedes was in the act again when he deflected a sharp Murad Naji drive and the ball found Scholz on its way into the goal (3-0).

There was more misery for Al Wakrah as Abdelaziz Hatem sent a lob from the midfield for Guedes to control at the top of the box before slamming in a powerful strike that beat the goalkeeper to his left (4-0).
