The Khalifa International Stadium will play host to the much-anticipated clash between Al Duhail and Al Wakrah on Saturday, August 23, 2025,  in Week 2 of 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League. The kick-off is at 8.30pm.

Al Duhail enter the contest following their thrilling 1-1 draw with Al Shahania in the first round. The result however wasn’t a desired one for the title contenders given their star-studded lineup which includes Italian Marco Verratti, Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek, Senegalese  Youssouf Sabaly, Algerian striker Adil Boulbina and Frenchman Benjamin Bourigeaud.

Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi will seek to quickly correct the situation and achieve first win of the season, thereby putting The Red Knights back in contention.

Al Wakrah, on the other hand, go into the game in good spirits following a 2-2 draw with Al Arabi in their opening round, confirming their strong team.

The team, coached by Spaniard Vicente Moreno, relies on a group of distinguished players, such as Angolan Jacinto Dala, Tunisian Aissa Laidouni, and Egyptian Hamdi Fathy, in addition to new signings led by Spaniard Raul de Tomas and Brazilian Lucas Verissimo, providing a variety of attacking and defensive options.

The match will also have a distinct technical character as Belmadi chooses to impose his style based on high pressure and quick transitions, while Moreno relies on defensive organization and counter-attacks, which provides for a contest open to all possibilities.
