Al Duhail will play host to Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in the fourth round (Group E) of 2023-2024 AFC Champions League at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The much-awaited match will kick off at 9pm.
The group’s other teams are FC Istiklol of Tajikistan and Persepolis of Iran.
Al Nassr are currently leading the group with nine points, while Persepolis are second with six points. Al Duhail are third with one point and FC Istiklol last, also with one point.
Al Duhail played a goalless draw against FC Istiklol in their opener before suffering a 0-1 reversal against Persepolis.
The Red Knights went down fighting 3-4 to Al Nassr in Riyadh in the third round.
Al Duhail, under the tutelage of new French coach Christophe Galtier who succeeded Argentinian Hernan Crespo, have been doing well of late in the 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League, where they are in fourth position with 16 points. The reigning champions defeated Al Rayyan 3-2 in a Week 8 thriller on November 2.
Galtier will mainly have the services of Qatar international forward Almoez Ali, Kenyan spearhead Michael Olunga and Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho, while midfielder Karim Boudiaf may miss the action due to injury.
Al Duhail will have to be wary of Al Nassr, who have the likes of Portuguese star and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Senegalese Sadio Mane, Brazilian Talisca, Portuguese Otavio and Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
