Al Rayyan coach Nicolas Cordova spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 3 match against Al Duhail.

“In the past two matches, we were not lucky and we did not achieve the points that we had hoped for, and we hope to achieve these points against Al Duhail.

“The team in the Al Arabi match performed well throughout and some small details made the difference.

“The team always plays to win and in the Al Duhail match, Al Rayyan seek to get the match points and our goal is to win against Al Duhail.

“The good thing about the team is that we create many chances during the matches, and this is a positive thing and we must take advantage of it in the upcoming matches,” said Cordova.

Al Rayyan player Ahmed Abdelmaqsoud said, “In football, when you win, the next match is easier for you and when you are in a club like Al Rayyan and you lose or draw a match, the next match is much more difficult regardless of the opponent, be it Al Duhail or any other team. We are used to these pressures and I think the Al Duhail team is going through the same conditions and Al Rayyan and Al Duhail matches are always fun.

“In the first two rounds, the results were not good, but as for the performance, it improved in the second match. It is difficult to control the results, but the important thing is that the performance improves, and this is what we are succeeding in now.

“The average age of our team has decreased significantly and the young players are highly professional. The role of the players, regardless of the results, is to implement the coach’s plan.”
