Al Duhail face Sepahan in the sixth and final round of their 2022 AFC Champions League campaign in Group D on Tuesday, 26th April. The match will kick off at 20:15 at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraidah.
Al Duhail are on a high, having qualified for the knockout Round of 16 following their exciting, come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Saudi Arabia’s Al Taawoun in the fifth round on Friday.
Karim Boudiaf, Edmilson Junior (double) and Almoez Ali were Al Duhail’s scorers.
Al Duhail are leading Group D with 12 points (four victories and one loss), while Sepahan are third with seven points, the same as Al Taawoun but placed behind on goal difference.
Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor are last with three points.
Al Duhail had lost their opener 1-2 to Al Taawoun, but made a strong comeback by beating Sepahan 1-0 in the second round, with Kenyan striker Michael Olunga netting the winner.
The Red Knights then beat Pakhtakor 3-2 and 3-0 in back-to-back matches, in the third and fourth rounds.
Al Duhail, coached by Argentinian Hernan Crespo, can even take the Sepahan match lightly.
On the other hand, Sepahan will have a fighting chance to progress to the next stage provided they win their last game.
The top team from each group will qualify for the Round of 16 along with the three best second-placed teams from the five West Asia groups.
