Al Ahli face Al Gharafa in Week 5 of the 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League. The kick-off is at 17:10 at the Al Thumama Stadium on Wednesday, 31st August, 2022.

Both teams are looking to continue their winning run. Al Ahli prevailed over Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa scored over Al Sadd by an identical 2-1 margin in Week 4.

Both Al Ahli and Al Gharafa have the same number of points (seven), with two wins, one draw and a defeat each.

Al Ahli coach Nebojsa Jovovic knows that his team’s task will not be easy against Al Gharafa. He depends on their sharp goalkeeper Yazan Naim, the Iranian defensive duo of Hossein Kanaani and Shojae Khalilzadeh, and midfielder Ali Qaderi. Then, he has the brilliant Jordanian forward and striker of three goals so far – Yazan Al Naimat.

Al Ahli will, however, miss their Montenegrin midfielder Nikola Vukcevic after he was sent off against Al Rayyan.

In contrast, Al Gharafa coach Andrea Stramaccioni may be relying on the group that played in the last match, among them the most notable being the brilliant Yacine Brahimi, Mehdi Tehrat, Almahdi Ali, Moyad Hassan, and the new Algerian duo of Ishak Belfodil and Farid Boulaya.
