The Qatar Stars League (QSL), in co-operation and partnership with Generation Amazing Foundation and Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), and with the support of Ministry of Public Health, organized a meeting for the parents of children participating in the newly-launched Negdar (We Can) initiative.
The meeting was held at the Lekhwiya headquarters, in the presence of representatives of participating entities and organisers.
The initiative’s themes and objectives were reviewed. They were also briefed on the comprehensive programme that has been meticulously designed in accordance with the latest standards. Additionally, details were provided regarding the training programme that will be conducted at Lekhwiya’s facilities, recognized for their high quality and excellence. The initiative is scheduled to commence on February 16 and conclude on May 28, 2025.
The meeting also emphasized the crucial role of parents in encouraging and motivating their children to adopt healthy lifestyles and proper nutrition, aligning with the initiative’s objectives in addition to addressing queries from parents.
On his part, Mr. Hassan Rabiah Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication at QSL, stated, “In our commitment to effectively launch the Negdar initiative, we prioritized engaging with the parents of the participating children to provide them with comprehensive information about the initiative and the training programme developed under the guidance of qualified trainers and specialists. We’re enthusiastic about the commencement of this programme, which reflects our dedication to enhance our social responsibility and promote the significance of sports among all groups, particularly children, while encouraging healthy lifestyles.
I extend my thanks and appreciation to all our partners and supporters, including Lekhwiya, Generation Amazing Foundation and MoPH. Additionally, I appreciate the parents for their active participation in the meeting, as their involvement is crucial in supporting and motivating their children. We’re confident that the initiative’s inaugural edition will meet its objectives.”
Major Khalifa Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Commander of Lekhwiya Sports Centre, welcomed all attendees and parents, and said, “We’re delighted to collaborate with our partners in this initiative, reflecting our commitment to supporting community efforts. The training programme for this initiative will be conducted at the facilities of Lekhwiya. We’ll supply specialized trainers, an all-encompassing nutrition team and will arrange various sports and training activities, including swimming, shooting, horse riding, endurance training, and self-defence. We stress that with increased enthusiasm, cohesive teamwork and dedication to all aspects of the program, we’ll achieve positive outcomes and together we can succeed.”
Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al Ali, Events Management Director at Generation Amazing Foundation, emphasized that the primary objective of the initiative is to effect positive change in the lives of children affected by obesity.
“This’ll be achieved through the development of various sports and football programmes aimed at altering movement patterns, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and raising awareness about the health risks associated with obesity. We’re proud to participate in this initiative, which exemplifies collaborative efforts to enhance the health and safety of our children and communities. This partnership underscores our collective dedication to improving community health and reinforces the notion that sports serve not merely as a form of recreation, but as a vital instrument for awareness and fostering a healthier, more active lifestyle. Through interactive guidance and education, we strive to equip children with the essential tools to cultivate healthy habits, thereby enabling the emergence of a healthier and more resilient generation, better prepared for the future,” he said.
Mrs. Maryam Aref Al Mulla, Nutrition Specialist at Lekhwiya, said, “Comprehensive nutritional follow-up will be provided to all members and we will check their weight on a regular basis to see the extent of the initiative’s impact on adopting healthy lifestyles. In addition, the participants’ diet will be monitored according to their health condition, and a number of guidelines and tips for proper nutrition will be provided not only to the participants, but also to the parents, as the role of the family is very important in achieving the desired goals and motivating and encouraging children to adhere to the programme as well as focusing on low-calorie snacks and other objectives that’ll contribute towards the initiative’s goals.”
It may be noted that Negdar, spanning across 15 weeks, is designed to inspire and motivate children to embrace healthier and more active lifestyles, using football as a motivational tool. The initiative also seeks to mitigate the risks of diseases linked to obesity. It is also considered as a prominent step in Qatar’s commitment to achieve global health goals, aligning with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
