Former Barcelona star midfielder and new captain of Al Sadd believes the Wolves can wrestle back dominance of he QSL next season.

The 35 year was introduced to the international media today, having just arrievd into Doha after winning the 2015 UEFA Champions League for the 4th time in his career.

Xavi, has joined the Wolves for two seasons and will become an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup which will take place in the state of Qatar.

At his unveiling, the Spaniard talked about his enthusiasm to get started with his new club and learn a new flavour of football in a different country.

“I would like to win as much as possible,I cant wait to get started. I would like to learn a new culture of football here in Qatar and also contribute with what I have learned from my time in Spain.”

Asked about his knowledge of the league, he said, “I have followed Al Sadd closely, they just missed out on the title but they did well in the Emir Cup, both are competitions that I want to win.”


“I am going to exert all my efforts to win as many titles as possible & I also want to thank the Qatari people for their amazing welcome.”

He then spoke of past greats who have played in the Qatar Stars League: “I know that I follow in the footsteps of players like Rual, I know this is a quality league with a high level of competition.”

The midfield magician will take over the capataicy at Al Sadd and hopefully instill the winning mentality which he has bcome synonymous with.

“I want to be remembered at Al Sadd as one of the great players, I want to win the Asian Champions League  and many domestic titles.”
