Al Gharafa welcomed Al Khor to the Thani bin Jassim today for the Qatar Stars League round 20 clash. Before the match Gharafa was in 7th place and had suffered a string of losses whilst Al Khor was just below them in 8th and were looking to overtake their round 20 opponents.

In the pre-match press conference new signing Cisero Santos spoke about his struggle with his match fitness but there seemed to be no signs of that when he put his side into a deserved lead in the 8th minute. The goal was from close range as the attacking midfielder set up his account in the QSL.

Paquetá brought in the Brazilian as his side has struggled to score many goals this season and don’t even have a single player in the top ten goal scorers this season.

Al Khor who last week beat Al Shahania knew that this fixture saw them up against a team with plenty of pedigree. Al Khor head coach Boloni was urging his players forward as he look for the equalizer before the break.

Luckily for Al Khor a goal did arrive right on the stroke of half time, when Julio Ceasar banged in his 10th goal of the season in 19 games (45’).

This goal gave Al Khor some hope as they came out for the second half but that was soon to disappear when former Steaua București forward Keseru put the yellow and blues back into the lead (56’).

This is how it stayed for the next 20 minutes and dispite Al Khor creating more of the chances it was the home side who then extended their advantage.

Winger Christian Bolaños finished off Gharafa’s oppenents with the third goal in the 75 minute, to give the Costa Rican his third goal of the season.

The result reignites the Cheetahs season as they move up to 5th whilst Al Khor move down from 8th to 9th despite being level on points with Al Sailiya.
