Muaither are at the very bottom of the table and have lost six games in a row. The Falcons will be looking to turn their season around with a positive result against the league leaders.
Philip Birrol, the head coach of Muaither, used the break period to enhance his squad, “We had only 3 days of preparation and it went very fast. We have two new players one from Iraq and the other from Japan. Now we need to improve our position in the table to stay in the league. Namori Sato is the Japanese player who we signed from Bunyodkor in Uzbekistan. Hamid Yaseen was playing in Sweden and the national team of Iraq, he is a strong player, he can play winger and striker.”
“I saw the Shahaniya vs Lekhwiya match and it’s not their fault they lost 10-0, they were playing against a very good team. Lekhwiya were fighting even at 9-0 they played like they had a prize at the end. You cannot play very openly against Lekhwiya because they will punish you and you can’t make mistakes because that will result in goals,” added the French tactician.
Speaking about the much-needed improvements in his side, Birrol added, “Technically we are weak. Our possession is under 40% in most games and if you don’t have the possession it’s hard to win matches. We added two new players to help us but we need to work on our technical side and I tell my players that we must not lose possession. If we implement these changes I hope we can stay up.”
Lekhwiya are top of the table after their 10-0 demolition of Shahaniya. The Cops will be looking to cement their position at the top with a win against struggling Muaither.
Djamel Belmadi, the head coach of Lekhwiya is ready to face his opponents, “The break was good for us and now we play against Muaither. The team is having a bad time now however they can be dangerous if you don’t take them seriously. We will concentrate and we have used the break to prepare ourselves physically and psychologically and we will hope to get the three points.”
“I don’t know how the second round will go. We want to have consistency and win games. We want to play well in the Champions League and the best way to do it is to play well in the league. We want to play good football and to play to the best of our ability,” added the Algerian tactician at the press conference on Tuesday.
Speaking about the difficulty of the league this year, Belmadi added, “I respect every team, every coach, and every player. We know that football is not easy, I will prefer to be coach of my team rather than Muaither. We respect our opponent and no match is easy. we will face the team in the best shape and way we can and that’s the best way to show respect to the opponent. The most important is to give it our maximum effort and get the three points.”
