Round 24 of the Qatar Stars League sees Lekhwiya get another chance to win the 2015 title when they take on Al Ahli at the Abdullah bin Khalifa stadium at 18:15 this Sunday.

Last week Lekhwiya failed to capitalize on their opportunity for championship glory as Shahania put up a admirable fight and despite their low position in the table, the Oryxes managed to pull-off a 3-3 draw away!

It was a lucky escape for the league leaders who at one point in the match were a man down and also trailing by a goal to the visitors.

Things don’t get any easier this week as they face Al Ahli a team who possess the league’s top scorer in Alain Dioko and a lightening counter attacking style. In addition the Red Knights will be without the services of their captain Luiz Martin Junior who was sent off for a second bookable offense in their previous match.

Vladimir Weiss too will miss out due to one too many yellow cards and central defender Chico could be a doubt as he was pulled off late in the game against Shahania. Sriker Soria too is still serving a suspension and will miss Sunday’s game.

This will therefore be perhaps the Brigadier’s best chance to beat the league leaders. Earlier in the season Al Ahli managed to get a draw against Lekhwiya (2-2 ) and so will have plenty of confidence that perhaps they might repeat the feat or go one better this time.

The from guide for the greens show that they won, drew and lost their last three games whilst Lekhwiya  won, won and drew theirs.

Ahli are currently in 6^th with 35 points whilst Lekhwiya has a five point lead over Sadd who sit in second.

The league is Lekhwiya’s to lose; they need just two points to secure their fourth QSL championship. Mathematically however, if Sadd win their last two games and Lekwhiya lose both theirs then Sadd would win.

Additionally if Lekhwiya lose and draw and Sadd win both their games, then the two teams would be tied on points and would have to play a “Golden Game” to decide the winner of the 2014/15 QSL season.
