The featured game of the week sees El Jaish who is in third with 34 points take on Qatar Sports Club who are just below in 4th position in the Qatar Stars League.  Qatar SC is only 3 points behind and has had a great season so far, especially considering their terrible start in rounds one and two.

In the first half of the season when these two teams met it was a close affair but El Jaish, the visitors on the day took all three points with a 2-1 win. The goals on that day came courtesy of the rangy Mohammed Muntari for Jaish and also from the Kings new Korean signing Young-Cheol, he has been a a tireless worker for the Kings in midfield this season.

Last season the Kings were not their usual selves and ended up finishing their campaign in a dismal 10th place. However they did have some success as they won the last ever QNB Cup.

QSC’s form in the last three games has varied; they beat Shahania 2-0, then they had a disappointing 1-1 draw against Al Khor. In round 19 they faced an Al Gharafa side that have brought in some new players and lost 2-1.

Their Iraqi head coach Radhi Shenaishil has so far done well but it is now, at the business end of the season that we will see if they have what it takes to finish in the top four.

El Jaish have slowly started to show signs of why last season they finished in second place after a run of three wins which was interrupted with a loss in the Asian Champions League against Naft of Tehran. However the Soldiers bounced back with an important 3-1 win over Al Sailiya.

Key players on the day for Jaish will be Mohammed Methnani; the midfielder is a robust yet clinical finisher who has a habit of scoring important goals.  New signing Romarinho too has been a revelation since joining from Corinthians scoring 12 of their goals this season. Of course their main attacking spur is Mohammed Muntari who is a player who can change a game but also creates plenty of opportunities for teammates.

Qatar SC can rely on their industrious Korean in the middle of the park; Young-Cheol holds the record this season for the most distance covered in a single match. Rafik Halliche has added a more sturdy dimension to the Kings back line in this, his first season in the QSL.

However the biggest threat facing El Jaish this weekend will be the unstoppable Hamdi Harboui who has been neck and neck with Ahli’s Dioko for the QSL top scorers standings, the Tunisian is currently on 16 goals.

With regards to head to heads, their last 4 encounters show a clear dominance by the Soldiers who have won 3 times to Qatar SC’s one win.

The match will kick of this Saturday at the Abdulla bin Khalifa stadium at 20:15.
