The eyes of the footballing world will be fixed on the Jassim bin Hamad stadium on Wednesday evening as two giants of the European game Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain face off in what promises to be a fascinating game.

Both sides are currently top of their domestic leagues going to winter break and will be using the warm weather training facilities of Doha as the perfect place to kick-start the second half of the season.

For PSG, the focus is will be very much on the Champions League, where they entertain current premier league champions Chelsea in the round of 16. Head coach Laurent Blanc is fully aware of the goals of the Qatari backed owners of the Parisians, and believes that in time this could eventually happen. “PSG have had bigger objectives at a European level. And we are not just representing the French football but now we have another role to represent Qatar. Players have the determination to achieve these objectives. If not this season, then in the coming few seasons, PSG will achieve our objective of winning the Champions League.”

The Parisians have the luxury of a full squad available for the tie. This includes South American stars Angel Di Maria, Edison Cavani and David Luiz who joined up with the squad late on Monday evening.

Inter Milan are going into the match looking for a big scalp ahead of a testing second half of the season. The Nerazzurri are currently just one point at clear at the top of the Italian Serie A. Head coach Roberto Manchini was clear to outline his side’s targets going into the second half of the season.

“We have improved from last year. Inter should be playing Champions League regularly. When we started this season, our target was to qualify for the Champions League. We are now at the top of the table but we don't know what will happen by the end of the season.”

One major absence for Inter will be defender Nemanja Vidic who is recovering from injury. Mancini was to update the press in regards to the Serbian defender. “Vidic will be ready in the next 2-3 weeks. His condition is not top at the moment. When he will be ready, he's an Inter player and he will be considered.”

Wednesday’s match promises to be an intriguing tie with both ties vying for glory on a domestic and European stage. With a full stadium and nearly fully fit squads, expect Inter and PSG to serve up a footballing feast, in this the last game for both sides in 2015.
