Qatar Gas League side Al Markhiya has confirmed their place in the Qatar Stars League for the 2017/2018 season, after a 0-0 draw with title rivals Qatar SC on Thursday evening. The result means that the side will be promoted to the QSL as league champions. This will be the second time in the clubs history that they have played in the QSL, following promotion during the 2002/2003 season.

The promotion caps off a successful season for Markhiya who have remained undefeated in the league campaign so far. The Qatar Gas League is set to end in one week’s time, and then the hard preseason work will begin for side as they prepare for the 2017/2018 QSL season.
