El Jaish team doctors have said that defender Lucas Mendez is now in stable condition after a heavy collision with fellow teammate - keeper Khalifa Abu Bakr during their Round 10 fixture with Al Rayyan.Mendez had to be substituted before the end of the first half as Mohamed Al Jabri took his position for the remainder of the match.
Lucas was taken to Hamad Hospital’s accident and emergency for further examinations which revealed a fracture in his cheek bone.
The defender will now require at least three weeks of treatment.
El Jaish is in 2nd place with 23 points behind Al Rayyan. El Jaish will play QSC in Round 11 of the Qatar Stars League this coming Saturday.
