The AFC U23 Local Organization Committee (LOC) has held an appreciation ceremony to honor the volunteers who contributed to the recent AFC U23 Championships, which were held in Qatar last month.

Over 400 volunteers where used for the Doha based tournament, which is seen as the second most important men’s football competition for the AFC.  The tournament was won by Japan who defeated rivals the Korean Republic 3-2 in a thrilling final. Whilst Iraq secured the third and final slot for the upcoming Olympic tournament held in Rio de Janerio, who defeated hosts Qatar in the third/fourth match.

 For the event, Mansor Al Ansari Chief  Executive Officer of the local organizing committee, and Ahmed al-Harami president of tournament operations along with senior management gave out certificates of appreciation to the volunteers.

Whilst secretary of the Qatar volunteer Center Nasser al-Maliki, also received a special shield in recognition for his organization’s efforts in helping run a successful tournament. Also present at the event was the tournament mascot Najim, who posed for pictures with the volunteers.
