On the second day of Round 7 Lekhwiya travelled north to Al Kharaitiyat in the hope that they could get their season back to winning ways after a big loss to Al Sadd that left a bitter taste in the mouth for the Red Knights. The match was played at the Al Khor stadium on Saturday 18th Oct’ at 17:30 in the evening.<br />

Defending champions Lekhwiya earned a 1-0 victory over Al Kharaitiyat to continue in their close pursuit of current league leaders Al Sadd.<br />
<br />
The Thunders had gone into the game with some good form after beating Umm Salal 1-0 and drawing with Al Arabi 0-0 the week before. Lekhwiya for their part had come unstuck against a unyielding Al Sadd side that put three past them in round 6.<br />
<br />
The game itself was played at a slow tempo and neither side could break the deadlock in the first half.<br />
<br />
In the second half both teams had a number of chances but neither side could take advantage as the minutes ticked by.<br />
<br />
Then, in dramatic fashion the Red Knights clinched the winner in the 89th minute courtesy of Nam Tae-Hee. The forward received the ball from Weiss in a central position on the edge of the box; the crafty Korean moved the ball onto his left as he shaped to shoot but then dragged it back onto his right to make space for the shot.<br />
<br />
His effort squeezed past the defense and into the bottom left corner as his team mates mobbed him and celebrated a tough away win at the Al Khor stadium.<br />

The Champions are now just a point behind Al Sadd, who are on top of the table with 19 points from seven matches.
