QSL side Lekhwiya came away with a creditable away point after a 1-1 draw with Iranian side Esteghlal Khouzestan on Tuesday afternoon to maintain their solid start in the AFC Champions League.

Djamel Belmadi’s side didn’t make the best start to the game, as Esteghlal striker Hasan Beytsaeid stepped up after being bundled down in the penalty box to convert from twelve yards out with the game just seven minutes old.

Thankfully for the Red Knights, they quickly found an equalizer four minutes later when Qatari winger Ismael Mohammed nodded in Chico Flores’ header which was send across the Esteghlal goal face. The result leaves the four time QSL champions in second place in group B just two points behind their opponents Esteghlal.
