
The match saw the Spanish side dominating, especially towards the end of the first half. The Spaniards finally broke the deadlock on the half hour mark through striker Charles Dias de Oliveira.
In the second half the team kept to the same formation and made no substitutions. Lekhwiya failed to create many chances and struggled offensively.
Malaga tried to increase their lead with some attacks, but Lekhwiya’s goalkeeper Clause Amine was up to the challenge.
Malaga then scored their second goal on the 77th minute courtesy of Portuguese midfielder Fábio Espinho.
Malaga kept up the pressure on Lekhwiya as they looked to score more goals, but Head Coach Djamel Belmadi brought on Ahmed Yasser who helped take off the pressure from the red’s goal.
The Red’s squad has now returned back to Doha and they will be focusing on the Asian Champions League quarter final against Saudi side Al Hilal on the 25th of August.
