Lekhwiya welcomed the visitor Al Sailiya to the Abdulla bin Khalifa stadium on Tuesday Dec 9^th. The home side was looking to keep up the pace the Al Sadd and couldn’t afford any slip ups if they wanted to be serious contenders come the end of the season.

The first half was an even encounter with both sides going close but neither side could break the deadlock and they both went into the break goalless.

Lekhwiya’s front man Sebastian Soria finally broke the stalemate on 52 minutes and this was the catalyst as then just 8 minutes later teammate and midfield metronome Karim Bodhiaf added the second.

Sailiya however came back almost immediately courtesy of a penalty spot conversion by Faozi Mubark Ayish (66’).

And that’s how the game ended.

The result puts Lekhwiya in second and just two points behind Al Sadd but the Wolves will play Al Shamal on Wednesday 10^th December and could open up a 5 point gap at the top of the table.

Al Sailiya on the other hand stays 9^th in the Qatar Stars League.
