QSL side Lekhwiya continued their preparations ahead of the new QSL season on the 15<sup>th</sup> of September with a 2-1 win over recently relegated side Mesaimeer.<br />

Assistant manager Bruno Oliveira took charge of the side in the absence of head coach Djamel Belmadi. The Red Knights took the lead on the 18<sup>th</sup> minute though summer signing Youssef El Arabi, who bundled the ball in from close range after a cross from left back Ali Afif.<br />

Lekhwiya dominated the ball for most of the first half; however it was a Mesaimeer who grabbed an equalizer on the 31<sup>st</sup> minute. Striker Ahmed Khalil cleverly played the offside trap, and was left one on one with Lekhwiya stopper Qasem Burhan. The mercurial striker made no mistake from close range.<br />

Within five minutes of the restart Lekhwiya took the lead again. This time the ever lively Ali Afif grabbed the winner after a surging run and composed finish. Lekhwiya pushed hard for a third goal; however Mesaimeer remained resolute with the tie finishing 2-1 to Lekhwiya.
