Newly promoted side Muaither have suffered a major injury blow, announcing that captain Adel Lamy has suffered a cruciate knee injury.

The former Al Arabi midfielder suffered the injury in the Qatar Gas League match for his side. The news will be a major blow for head coach Phillipe Birol, who had been counting on the experienced Lamy in the center of midfield for his side.

The player will now undergo surgery at ASPETAR hospital and start the long rehabilitation process. Meanwhile, Muaither have begun preparations for their fifth round clash against fellow strugglers Al Wakrah. The stallions have lost all four of their opening games of the season, and will be targeting a win against Wakrah in the Saturday evening match at Gharafa stadium.
