Ten goals split between Al Sailiya and El Jaish
The opening four games of round six of the QSL season saw an astonishing 21 goals from four games. Ahead of the second set of games tonight, QSL online has decided to look over some of the moments that mattered.
Al Sadd got the goal fest started with a comprehensive 4-0 thrashing against Al Shahania. Wolves midfielder Xavi put in a captain’s performance, grabbing his sides second goal with 35 minutes on the clock.
Up in Al Khor, four goals where split between Al Khor and Lekhwiya. Djamel Belmadi’s side where leading the tie 2-1, however that all changed when Madson converted from the penalty spot to give Jean Fernandez’s side a deserved share of the spoils with a 2-2 draw.
Whilst the QSL match of the week saw three penalties given as Al Rayyan edged out Al Ahli 2-1. The Lion’s talismanic captain Rodrigo Tabata struck his fourth and fifth of the season, whilst Al Ahli captain Meshal Abdulla converted from the spot to ensure a nervy 25 minutes for head coach Michael Laudrup.
The goal rush came at Al Ahli stadium between Al Sailiya and El Jaish, in which both sides shared an incredible ten goals, with Jaish eventually running out 6-4 winners. Sabri Lamouchi’s side grabbed five goals in the first half including a brace for Brazilian attacker Romarinho.
Al Sailiya mounted a spirited comeback in the second half scoring three second half goals to make the scoreline 5-4 going into the final 25 minutes. Fortunately for El Jaish, flying Uzbeki winger Sardor Rashidov popped up with a goal on the 77th minute to ensure that El Jaish will go into the international break top of the QSL standings.
Interestingly with the glut of goals, three players are making their claim for the Mansor Muftah award for the top scorer at the end of season. Thanks to grabbing two goals in their respective matches, Romarinho and Bagdad Bounjah join Yusef El Arabi on eight goals for the season. The trio of professional players will be looking to add to their personal tally, and aid their side to title glory when the QSL resumes after the international break on Friday the 18th of November.
