Former Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Al Gharafa, languishing at the 7th spot, want to jump-start their campaign by playing better all-round football.

Al Gharafa, who once won three back-to-back QSL titles in one particular streak, take on struggling Al Khor at Al AHli Stadium in a round 13 clash on Sunday.

"This will be the final match in the first phase of QSL. The result of this game will impact how the team fares in the second phase of QSL,"
assistant coach Habib Al Sadeq said during a pre-match press conference.

"We seek to focus and play with concentration in order to achieve positive result," Sadeq added.

"We seek to enhance and improve our attacks and take advantage of the opportunities which will lead us to score goals. As I said earlier, our aim is the three points," Sadeq said when asked about his plans for Sunday and beyond.

Al Sadeq added that Al Gharafa will miss the services of their striker Yassin Al Shikhawi due to the red card slapped by the referee during the previous game.

"There is no doubt that we will miss him but we have to compensate his position with other players and we can do that," he said.

Al Sadeq explained that the team improved on group play and spirit but the goal-opportunities were far and few in between.

"The team formation needs more harmony," Sadeq said. "I hope that the team will rise to the occasion and be part of the top sides in QSL,"
he added.

Al Khor coach Jean Fernandez on Saturday said winning three points would lift the moral of his side currently placed 12th on the points table.

“The situation of our team is very critical in view of the recent defeat to Al Sailiya. We have only 9 points. It is important that we beat Al Gharafa,” Fernandez said on Saturday.

“We know perfectly well that the match is very tough and difficult especially with the negative result of my team in the previous round.

"We also know that Al Gharafa team is going through difficult situation but we respect them. Despite the fact that they are missing the striker Al Shikhawi but they have good players overall," Fernandez said,

Al Khor head coach said Al Gharafa's has had difficult time in recent weeks. He said Al Gharafa remained one of the best sides in QSL.

"Recent results don't reflect their true level. What is important for us is to maintain the levels of harmony within our team," Fernandez said.

Commenting on the level of professional players, he said on Saturday:
“I believe that the issue with our professional players is that we have been unlucky but everybody noticed our good performances during previous games.”

Fernandez said Muabark Obaid is injured and may miss out on the action on Sunday.

The game kicks off at 16:30 at Al Ahli Stadium.
