First Ever Al Wakrah Schools Football Tournament
On Tuesday 10th of March Al Wakrah Sports Club hosted their first ever schools competition for the schools in their local area, which was well attended and a major success with plenty of participants.

On the day the club hosted the tournament the QSL GOALZ team were at hand to run a Year 1+2 football festival and a Year 5+6 tournament which ran simultaneously at Al Wakrah Sports Clubs training fields.

The schools in attendance were Vision International Academy, who were playing in their first ever schools competition, Doha British School Al Wakrah and Mesaieed International School.

In the Year 1+2 event similar to the GOALZ festivals the students played a non-competitive round of matches which allowed the children to enjoy their football without the pressure of winning or losing. The Year 5+6 event was delivered as a competitive tournament in which all the students thrived and enjoyed themselves.

Across the board the standard of football was great and the teams thoroughly enjoyed playing football as opportunities for them are few and far between as they live in isolated communities outside of Doha.

Following the festival and tournament on the training field all 60 students and a large group of supporters (approx. 400 overall) attended the thrilling Al Wakrah vs Lekhwiya game.

During the half time break the all the students were involved in a presentation were they received medals and trophies from Al Wakrah Club officials. The honors for the Year 5+6 competition were as follows:
·         Winners: Al Wakrah Sports Club (Mesaieed International School)
·         Runners Up: Al Sadd (Doha British School Al Wakrah A team)
·         Third Place: Qatar Sports Club (Vision International Academy)
·         Fourth Place: Al Sailiya Sports Club (Doha British School B team)
